Duo Gobi - Destaillats (Argentina)

The Argenine duo featuring guitarrist and singer Sergio Gobi and bandoneonist Guillermo Destaillats, will arrive from Berlin to take part in DÍA DEL TANGO 2008. They will perform live on 12 December from 8 pm at the House of Cinema on 37 Ekzarh Yosif St. in Sofia.

Sergio Gobi was born in Argentina, in the province of Buenos Aires. After going through the argentinean folklore and the bosa nova, in the beining of 1990s he finaly dedicates himself to the tango. He lives in Berlin from 2001. Since 2002 he is the singer of the famous tango orquestra Sexteto Andorinha. He is a popular and sought after musician and singer and he has been a member of a number of tango formations among which La Rolando Rivas, 6 Australes, Tangente, Quinteto Ángel, Orquesta Típica Sabor a Tango, Puro Apronte, Tango Fascinación. Guillermo Destaillats was born in Buenos Aires where he studied piano, organ and bandoneon at the National Music Conservatoire. In 1993 he founded Trio Pantango with which he played for more than 10 years in concert halls and tango salons in Europe and recorded 6 CDs. Currently, he plays with of the most popular tango orquestras in Europe, Silencio. He is also a member of Que Tangazo and La Rolando Rivas and has played with 6 Australes and the argentinean Cuarteto Almagro. He will bring to Sofia an instrument which can rarely be found in Bulgaria, but which epitomizes the true tango music - the bandoneon. This is the instrument that represents the spirit and the emotion of tango, the instrument that breathes and has soul, the instrument that for more than a century has inspired and touched tango lovers all over the world.



Sergo and Guillermo play together not only as a duo but also as members of La Rolando Rivas of which hey are co-founders. Their repertoire is a colorful mixture of traditional and modern tango, including own compositions - an interesting musical trip in the informal intimacy of the chamber performance.
